Noami Grevemberg is the author of Living the Vanlife: On the Road Toward Sustainability, Community, and Joy, published by Simon & Schuster. Part memoir, part practical guide, her book shares the story behind a life-altering decision—leaving a promising career in environmental science to confront the severe anxiety and disconnection she could no longer ignore. What began as a one-year road trip to reevaluate her life became a decade of choosing a different way, creating a life rooted in self-trust, creative expression, and connection to nature and community.
After stepping away from the only life she’d been taught to succeed in, Grevemberg began documenting her transition to road life from the front seat of her van, first to stay in touch with loved ones, then to share the messy, unspoken parts of starting over. Her reflections on identity, mental health, and radical reinvention struck a chord, especially with women of color who often felt invisible in narratives about alternative living. In 2019, she created Diversify Vanlife, an online community that helped shift the face of modern nomadism, offering visibility, belonging, and storytelling for BIPOC travelers long left out of the narrative.
Grevemberg’s creative work lives at the intersections of identity, healing, and unconventional living. Her mixed heritage and immigrant experience shaped an early understanding of what it means to belong everywhere and nowhere at once. In the isolation of 2020, amid a global pandemic and political unrest, Noami adjusted to off-grid life while carrying a heaviness she couldn’t name. This sense of displacement inspired her podcast, Nomads at the Intersections (NATIPod), where guests explore how culture, self-definition, and visibility are shaped beyond the margins, echoing her own journey toward belonging.
NATIPod amplifies diverse voices in the outdoor and creative community, providing a platform for those often overlooked. Through storytelling and slow conversations with her community, she documents the emotional texture of life after upheaval and the ongoing process of redefining what it means to live with intention when the old rules stop working. Since 2016, her digital presence has been a space for realignment, for those rethinking how they move through the world and how they make meaning on their own terms.
Noami has been featured in numerous publications, podcasts, and creative platforms, including Condé Nast Traveler and Essence Magazine where her work resonates at the intersection of sustainability, culture, and personal reinvention. As a speaker, activist, and cultural commentator, she challenges dominant narratives and brings grounded, lived wisdom to people navigating the messy middle of transformation, especially women ready to lead with clarity, integrity, and self-trust. Her work has reached global audiences through collaborations with mission-driven brands, national media, and community-centered campaigns that invite people to rethink what it means to live, lead, and belong.
